Mi-kyung Lee
Violin, Master Class teacher

Violinist Mi-kyung Lee has been living in Europe since 1975. She is the recipient of numerous awards such as the Whole German Music University Competition (1982), the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussel (1985) and ARD Competition in Munich (1988) as well as the prestigious Nanpa Music Award in South Korea (2021). In 1996, she received an Honorary Doctorate at De Montfort University in Leicester, England.
As soloist she has performed with many orchestras around the world such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony, Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, Württemberg Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Academica Salzburg, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic, Brussels Philharmonic, English Chamber Orchestra, BBC Scotland, Swiss Bazel Symphony, KBS Symphony, Korean Chamber Orchestra etc. She is also sought out as a soloist and chamber musician in various festivals from Berlin, Casals, Salzburg, Napoli, Aldeburgh, Kuhmo, Helsinki, Menuhin Festival, and Korlsholm Festival.
From 1994 to 2003 Mi-kyung Lee was the Artistic Director of the Lemi-Lappeenranta Music Festival in Finland. She is constantly invited to give master classes in many European countries, including England, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, France, Finland, Sweden as well as in Korea and China. Based on all her years of worldwide festivals and education, in 2023 she started MIMA (MikyungLee International Music Academy) in South Korea and serves as Music Director which has successfully created a new wave amongst the musical education atmosphere in Seoul, Korea. Mi-kyung Lee has been teaching as guest professor in Udk, Berlin and had professorship in Sibelius Academy Helsinki (1999–2004). She was appointed professor of violin at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich in 2004.
