Anna-Liisa Bezrodny
Violin

Anna-Liisa Bezrodny is a Finnish-Estonian violinist, who started her violin studies at the age of two under the guidance of her parents, and later, of the legendary children’s teacher Ivi Tivik. She continued to the Sibelius Academy, under the guidance of her parents, prof. I. Bezrodny and M Tampere-Bezrodny, and later the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Yfrah Neaman. She has won many international competition prizes, as well as the GSMD Gold Medal 2006, the Finnish Pro Musica award, and the Estonian Cultural Foundation award 2013.
Through the years, she has performed in concerts around all of Europe, in the USA, Asia, Russia, and so forth, both as a soloist and chamber musician, with orchestras such as the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Royal Philharmonic, Philharmonia Orchestra, and most Finnish and Estonian orchestras. Anna-Liisa is an active chamber musician, performing at festivals all over the world, with musicians such as Jan-Erik Gustafsson, Maxim Vengerov, Barnabas Kelemen, Ida Händel, and many others. Her repertoire reaches from the baroque era until today, and many composers, such as Tõnu Kõrvits, Rein Rannap, Harri Wessman, and Jaan Rääts, have written works for and dedicated them to her.
Anna-Liisa has been professor at the Karlsruhe Hochschule für Musik in Germany, and professor of violin at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, as well as the Purcell School in London. Since 2023, Anna-Liisa is artistic director of the Tallinn Chamber Music Festival and advisor/artistic director of the Eesti Sinfonietta. She plays on a 1678 violin by Hieronymus II Amati, on loan from the Finnish Culture Foundation.
