After his acclaimed debut in the Finnish National Opera as Novice in Benjamin Britten’s Billy Budd in March 2022, lyric tenor Tuomas Miettola has become one of the most in demand young opera singers in Finland. His operatic roles on stage includes Tamino in Mozart's The Magic Flute (Oulu City Theater), Fritz in Mascagni’s L’amico Fritz, Albert Herring in Britten’s Albert Herring, Ferrando in Mozart’s Cosí fan tutte, and Camille in Lehar’s The Merry Widow. Miettola was awarded with 2nd Prize and Audience's Favourite Prize in Havets Röst Singing Competition in 2023. He is also a scholar of the Finnish Wagner Association and “Friends of Salzburg Music Festival” Association in 2022.
As a highlight of the season 2023/2024, Miettola will return as Tamino (Mozart: The Magic Flute) in Oulu City Theater in Finland, as 2. man (Kontu's Armi) in Ilmajoki Music Festival, and he will also make his debut in Tampere Opera as Gastone (Verdi: La Traviata). The season also includes appearances with the Oulu Symphony Orchestra in Madetoja's Okon Fuoko, Finnish Baroque Orchestra in Bach's St. Matthew Passion and Lohja City Orchestra in Strauss Gala Concert.
Miettola has performed as a soloist with great symphony orchestras, such as the Georg Enescu Festival Orchestra, Lahti Symphony Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Oulu Symphony Orchestra and Lapland Chamber Orchestra. He has had the honor of collaborating with renowned conductors such as Hannu Lintu, Mikko Franck, John Storgårds, Tarmo Peltokoski, and Olari Elts.
