Jennie Kackur
Recorder
Jennie Kackur studied the recorder and early music under the guidance of Jari S. Puhakka and Eero Saunamäki at the Sibelius Academy. At present, she is supplementing her studies in music pedagogy at the Novia University of Applied Sciences in Jakobstad, and works as an instrument and group teacher at the Wava Institute in Jakobstad.
Kackur has extensive experience in performance both as a soloist and as ensemble and chamber musician. She has appeared as soloist with Vaasa City Orchestra, BRQ Vantaa Ensemble, and others. Kackur has participated in master classes with renowned recorder players such as Dan Laurin and Dorothee Oberlinger.
In addition to her love for the recorder and early music, Kackur is interested in other wind instruments and music genres as well, having been an active saxophone player for most of her career. She became acquainted with folk music in 2014 as she became a member of the folk music band Ratatosk, with which she has appeared in festivals both in Finland and abroad.
