Janne Thomsen
Flute

The Danish flautist Janne Thomsen has established a reputation as a sought-after soloist. Janne began her musical studies in Denmark at the age of four and later became the Danish “Young Musician of the Year”. On completion of her studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Paris Conservatoire, she continued to win prizes at international flute competitions, for instance in Prague, Paris, Vienna and Boston. She has been awarded an ARAM – associate of the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Janne Thomsen is a passionate chamber musician, and appears as a soloist with orchestras including the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Salzburg Camerata, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic, and Kremerata Baltica.
Janne Thomsen has collaborated closely with contemporary composers such as Sofia Gubaidulina, Pēteris Vasks, Wolfgang Rihm, and James MacMillan. Janne takes to projects amalgamating various forms of art like dance, jazz, poetry and film.
From 2004–2007 Janne Thomsen taught at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and continued in 2008–2010 at the Hochschule für Musik in Lucerne.
